Gilberto was passionate about art, and drawing with skill from the youngest age. In 1975 he acquired the Baccalaureate from Ciocognini secondary school in Prato near Florence.

His subsequent traveling took him as far as Kabul. He then settled in Florence for two years in order to study Philosophy at the University of Florence. During this time he worked as a life model at the Art Academy of Florence.

Pursuing his passion for learning new skills he went to Assisi to study woodcarving under his great uncle. He then worked in the family antique restoration workshop learning this art from his brother.

His love for observation and his daily discipline in drawing compelled him to travel widely and to see new things. His travels lead him on through India, Morocco, Egypt, Australia and then Thailand where he lived for four years working as a Tour Guide.

In 1992 he decorated the grand hall and the ‘Cafe Moresque’ in the Paradise Garden Hotel, in Hammamet, Tunisia.

Afterwards he spent ten years collaborating with art galleries, antique dealers, interior designers and decorators in Milan. He carved a high quality selection of objets d’art, decorated frames, panels and furniture. He also focused on highly specialised monochrome illustrations.

In 2010 he exhibited his paintings at St Gilles, Brussels.Then he moved to Blois - Chambord, where he now lives and works.

In 2006, 2007, 2009 and 2010 he exhibited at the ‘Promenades Artistiques, Molineuf’ near Blois.

In 2007 and 2010 he exhibited at La Perrière, le ‘Marché d’Art’ and at the Thuilliers Gallery in Paris.

He is currently working for an exhibitIon at the ‘marché de la création’ Bastille, Paris, having been accepted by them as a painter.
